ENJOY a small-group workshop for beginners; private lessons with Diane
to work on technique and repertoire will also be available all weekend, to fit your schedule.
Plus some fun and easy harp jammin' for all levels... even for the newest "harpies"!
All in a relaxing, no-stress atmosphere. Harps will be available, or bring your own.
WE NOTICED how many adult harp beginners are also
QUILTERS. SO... Diane is holding this Harp Workshop during "A WEEKEND OF QUILTS", which is a Shaker Village event
for quilt enthusiasts. This will allow quilters who have "always wanted to try the harp" to enjoy an introduction
to harping in a relaxed setting. Quilt events will include a competition, hands-on piecing workshop, quilt appraisals,
and lectures... BUT, please NOTE, you do NOT have to be attending the Quilt Weekend to come to the Harp Workshop!
Local harpers, especially in the Central Kentucky area, are warmly invited to attend this
Workshop!
SO... While the quilt events are going on, this may be the world's first "Moveable
Harp Feast"... as we will schedule Workshop Sessions, harp jams, and private lessons in 1- and 2-hr increments on
Saturday and Sunday. Please stay tuned for more details very soon. All harping will occur either in air-conditioned
comfort in an original Shaker house, or maybe, if Kentucky breezes and sunshine prevail, on lawns overlooking the rolling
hills and lush farmlands of Mercer County.
For those who have never visited the Shaker Village, it is truly the
"heaven on earth" that the Shakers believed it was. Diane was the first Music Director at Pleasant Hill in 1976,
and will regale you with fascinating Shaker stories and even some original Shaker songs.
FEES for ROOM/BOARD for QUILT WEEKEND:
Shaker Village is offering a good 2-night package room-and-all-meals Quilt Weekend deal (esp. for 2 people

HOWEVER, if you're NOT interested in signing up for the QUILT events, you can economically
arrange your own room and meals... either book your own room in the Shaker Village by calling 1-800-734-5611, or, if you're
driving, stay in local motels in nearby Harrodsburg, KY (8-10 min. drive). Lexington, KY is also about 35
minutes north via scenic Rt. 68.
FEE FOR BEGINNER HARP WORKSHOP (fee is SEPARATE from QUILT EVENT fees): $175
Private Lessons: $60/hr or $35/half-hour
Harp Rental: $25
